Diet after gallbladder is removed?

Hi i'm having my gallbladder taken out in 2 days and i was wondering what diet would i need to go on now? i heard that i'll get diarrhea for YEARS i'm really scared if that'll happen :( and i also heard that i will have to give up my love of coffee. I'm really sad about the whole thing so i have no clue what certain things to eat now or look out for.

Answer on Diet after gallbladder is removed?

the gallbladder is the organ that stores bile. bile contains several enzymes and chemicals that break apart part fat and carbohydrate molecules into smaller molecules. without bile the body cannot process fats and carbohydrates.

The diet should include:
* Lean meat, skinned fish and chicken
* Eggs
* Skimmed milk
* Low fat cheese, yogurts and spreads
* Soups
* Salads
* Grilled fish and chicken
* Legumes

you should avoid:
* Fried foods
* Spicy food
* Whole grain breads
* Cereals, seeds and nuts
* Baked beans
* Broccoli
* Cabbage
* Brussel sprouts
* Cauliflower
* Peanuts
* Pastries
your diet should be low fat, low carb, and high protein.

hope this helps!
