I need a diet plan to lose 38 pounds by 2012. Help me?

I plan on joining the military.
I'm 6 feet 4 inches, and I'm 268 pounds.
How will I lose 38 pounds by next year or quicker.
(Used to be 310 pounds)

I put your stats into an online calorie calculator and this is what it came up with. Hopefully this helps, and if you follow it by eating your healthiest, I'm sure you can reach your goal! Counting calories isn't as hard as it seems..just look at the back of the box you're eating out of, make sure you eat the serving size, and keep a journal of your calorie intake so that you don't go over your limit everyday.

You need 3441.6 calories per day to maintain your current weight without exercise.

You need 3166.8 calories per day to reach your goal weight slowly and maintain that weight without exercise.

If you reduce your current caloric intake to 2941.6 calories per day you will lose one pound per week without exercise.

If you increase your current caloric intake to 3941.6 calories per day, you will gain one pound per week.

If you exercise for 30 minutes each day, you may increase your caloric intake to 3769.4 calories per day and still maintain your current weight.

If you exercise for 60 minutes each day, you may increase your caloric intake to 4186.6 calories per day to maintain your current weight.

If you exercise for 30 minutes each day, you will be able to reach your goal weight with 3464.4 calories per day.

If you exercise for 60 minutes each day, you will be able to reach your goal weight with 3843.1 calories per day.

The United States Department of Agriculture suggests that approximately 50 percent of your calories come from carbohydrates, about 30 percent from fats, and approximately 20 percent from protein sources. One gram of protein has about four calories, one gram of fat has about nine calories, and one gram of carbohydrate has about four calories.

You need 430.2 grams of carbohydrates, 113.6 grams of fat, and 172.1 grams of protein per day for 3441.6 calories to maintain your weight of 268 pounds.

You need 395.9 grams of carbohydrates, 104.5 grams of fat, and 158.3 grams of protein per day for 3166.8 calories to maintain your goal weight of 230 pounds.

Hope this helps you!! I didn't know your age so I just put 21, but I'm sure a few years difference wouldn't make much of a change.

I am dedicating 4 weeks to do nothing but work out and diet. I need to know what to expect to lose for such an intense program. Thanks.

I think they've been at it 9 weeks now & most have lost 50 plus pounds. So figure at 4 weeks maybe 25 pounds. Eat lots of healthy small meals so you don't lose just muscle. You need to keep up your energy if you plan on major workouts.
Good luck!
