I am a new mouse owner...3 of them actually and I want to give them a healthy diet. Does anyone know a good organic/natural recipe for them and a good brand of water soluble vitamins to add to their water?
Answer on Mouse Health?
I feed my mice a homemade mix. It is mostly wholegrain pastas, rice, rolled oats, millet and molasses, as well as stale whole wheat bread. (Stale because the emzynes in fresh bread harms mice) I have found this is one of the best foods for my mice, certainly better than most ofwhat you'll find in pet stores.
I also give them regular fresh veggies and fruits every few days.
I would advise you to stay away from water additives. Not only do the vitamins in these usually disipate much faster than the water is consumed, but it really makes the water grimy fast. You can give the mice yeast, wheatgerm and cod liver oil as supplements instead. I don't do this very often, but if given regularily, I'm sure the mice will benefit.
