Right now all I can do are abs, and lift weights (only upper body stuff like bench pressing)
Also, how can I become more devoted to my running diet. I always eat a lot of sweets and what not but it's mostly because that is what we basically have in our house. Any tips and snack ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Swimming is a great way to cross train for cross country (it builds endurance and lung capacity). Keep lifting weights and doing ab workouts.
