Know an inexpensive place to stay in Italy?

A really good friend of mine has decided to get married on the Amalfi Coast in Italy and I was hoping someone could suggest a place to stay for 7-10 days at the end of August.

We're traveling from Canada and the flights alone are expensive - we're open to camping or hostels or even a room in a house.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

It depends on what you consider inexpensive. The Amalfi Coast is a popular destination and August is the peak season.

You might try something like La Perla in Praiano. It's relatively inexpensive (The cheapest rooms are 50 euro per night single; 90 euro per night double) a great location accessible by car or bus. http://en.venere.com/hotels_praiano/hote…

This apartment is cheaper, but also a bit more out-of-the-way. http://en.venere.com/apartments_massa_lu…

You might also consider staying in a convent or a monastery. Some of these are very good deals, but others are about the same cost as a hotel. There's one in Sorrento: http://www.neapolitanriviera.com/culla_e… but I don't know the price. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserRevie…

There is also a hostel in Atrani (close to Amalfi) that has bus and ferry (at Amalfi) connections http://www.amalficoastweb.com/lascalinat… or another in Agerola which is inland (i.e., up the mountain) from the beaches. http://www.amalficoastweb.com/beatasolit… There's also a hostel in Sorrento, but the reviews don't sound promising: http://www.hostels.com/Reviews/Ostello-D…

Villagio Nettuno has camping facilities: http://www.villaggionettuno.it/camping.h…
