Interval Running to Loose Weight?

I was just wandering if interval training (e.g. Walk for a minute, jog for 2 minutes) is an effective method for weight loss. Also, can anybody suggest a good interval training work out for an effective weight loss program.

i suggest proper diet with running. d only thing i did on intervals is condition n strength work
e.g situps to jumps to lungs to pushups etc.. all in 30 secs
